Aspiring to be the best, family friendly, wheelchair accessible transport museum in the East Midlands
WE ARE LOOKING FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS TO JOIN OUR TEAM
THE ADVENTURE BEGINS RIGHT HERE
Welcome to Nottingham Heritage Vehicles Charity, an East Midland based heritage transport charity whose aim is to preserve and restore local transport heritage for future generations.
NHVC is a registered Educational Transport Charity with a unique collection of vehicles from Nottingham & surrounding areas. With the collection spanning vehicles representative of the early 1900s to the only surviving Nottingham Bendybus of 2002, from half cab rear platform vehicles to one of our newest acquisitions, a 2005 Nottingham double decker. We have examples of vehicles depicting generations of travel and the social economic history of our local area.
NHVC’s “home” is the former Trent Motor Traction bus depot in Hucknall, a 1936 art deco style building – the fitting location for a transport charity with a fleet of vintage buses. We are currently undertaking necessary restoration work on the building enabling us to move from using it simply as a bus garage to a professional, family friendly museum. Full replacement of the condemned electrics has taken place as well as an upgrade to the main garage lights – Originally Halogen lights now replaced with LED, environmentally friendly lights. A refurbishment of the front office block, which was derelict when we moved in, has taken place allowing us to create a model shop and cafe area. If collecting model buses isn’t your thing then you may prefer to browse our two refurbished book shops.
As we are undertaking so much work that we would love to share with all, we are opening our doors more regularly. Just follow the adverts on this page for our next event. Just pop along say hi, have a cup of tea from our brand new catering outlet or just browse our displays and our unique vehicles. Even sample some of our heritage fleet on our FREE local bus rides which will be featuring some special new additions. Pure nostalgia but it may just get you onboard as a valued volunteer along with many others from the local area. The Charity has no paid staff so we operate 100% upon the efforts of people like you. Working members don’t have to become friends of the charity through our support group so don’t let that put you off. However if you wish to receive regular newsletters and be invited on the members days out then this is perhaps for you!
